Unit 1 - Habitats

In this unit, students will learn about different habitats and the animals that exist within these habitats as well as California’s natural regions and resources. Students will be reading literature and informational text and making connections across texts and subject areas. After the close reading of several texts, students will engage in collaborative discussions to explore the characteristics, differences and similarities of habitats. Students will be able to draw a food web and show how energy moves from one organism to another. Students will also be creating a personal narrative and going through the writing process with support from teachers and peers.
