TEACHER INSTRUCTIONS:
Teacher should follow Treasures T.E. pp. 200L to 203 directions for teaching Oral Language and Word Study.
After reading and discussing the reading selection, teachers can guide the students in adding information learned to the Adaptation Matrix chart. (Continue to provide time for students to explore the adaptation games during differential instruction time.)
Have students study the chart and compare it to when it was blank. Have them use their journals to “point out how it has changed since the beginning of the unit. What is it telling us?”
The following link is a live stream experience. Students can view real time action of Burrowing Owls in their local habitat. Some students might enjoy doing the work of a real Wildlife Biologist by keeping a log to document, with notes and drawings, what they view each day on the site. Ask students to use their journals to take notes as they watch this video. Ask them to compare notes following the video. “How are your notes similar or different from your partner’s notes?”
Enjoy the lesson? Have some feedback to make it better?
