Choosing a Password: Please use the following rules and suggestions for maximum effectiveness.
- Change your password at least twice a year.
- It should have a minimum of 8 alphanumeric and special characters.
- It should contain at least three of the four types of characters – uppercase, lowercase, numbers and special characters. Be creative, but also choose a password that you can remember!
- It should not include your username, first or last name or your spouse’s name. Also, do not use dictionary terms, computer names, house addresses, phone numbers or all numbers.
- Do not lend your password to other individuals. The potential for abuse is too great if others know your password.
These steps will update your password on all of these accounts:
- Computer login
- Gmail
- Infinite Campus
- BMC Track-It Help Desk
- MyNUSD Portal
If you are using a Windows computer (i.e. HP desktop/laptop):
- Make sure you are at the login screen.
- Select CTL + ALT + DEL.
- Select “Change Password”.
- Enter your old (current password), then enter and confirm your new password.
- Hit OK, and your new password will populate to each of the accounts above.
If you are using an Apple computer (i.e. MacBook Air):
- Make sure you have logged in.
- Click on the Apple icon in the upper left-hand corner of the screen.
- Select “System Preferences”
- Select “Users & Groups”. The right side of the window should default to the “Password” tab.
- Select “Change Password”
- Enter your old (current password), then enter and confirm your new password.
- Hit OK, and your new password will populate to each of the accounts above.
Once you have changed this password, it will immediately sync to your main NUSD identity in our directory. Please keep in mind that if you have set up any of your accounts on your smartphone, or have “remembered” your login information in any of your web browsers, you will be prompted to re-enter your password. The system is attempting to access your information using the saved, old password which no longer works. Simply re-enter the new password you just created.
If you find yourself not remembering your password for Infinite Campus, for example, just remember that it is the same password you use to access your computer and email. In the event that you cannot remember this password, please refer to the KB article I Forgot My Password.
