Export grades to Infinite Campus (SIS)
If you use Classroom with G Suite for Education, you can export grades directly to your student information system (SIS). After your admin sets up the connection, you can link your classes to the SIS and export grades.
Note: When you export grades to your SIS, Classroom grade categories don’t carry over. In your SIS, grades might be assigned a default category or marked uncategorized. To download a copy of your Grades page with grade categories, go to Download grades instead.
Before you can export grades for the first time, you have to link your class to the SIS. You only have to link a class once. Only the primary teacher can link a class to the SIS. You can link a new or existing class.
Link a new class
- Go to classroom.google.com.
- Click Add + > Create.
- Next to Link with, click the Down arrow “ν” and select your class from the list.
Note: If your class isn’t on the list, the class isn’t set up in your SIS. You can finish creating your class now, and follow the steps to link an existing class later. - To finish creating your class, enter your class details > click Create.
Your new class is linked to the SIS.
Link an existing class
- Go to classroom.google.com.
- Click the class> Settings .
- Under General, click Link to class.
- Under Link class, click the Down arrow and choose your class from the menu.
Note: Only classes that list you as the primary teacher in the SIS show in the menu. If you don’t see your class, go to Troubleshoot SIS grade export. - Click Link.
You can now export returned grades to your SIS.
After you link your class to the SIS, you can export grades. You can only export returned grades. Draft grades don’t export to your SIS.
Note: To export successfully, classwork needs a due date in the current SIS grading period. To change a due date, go to Edit an assignment.
- Go to classroom.google.com.
- Click the class > the Grades page.
- At the right, click SIS export.
- Grades export for any classwork with a checked box. For any grades you don’t want to export, uncheck the box. Classwork you don’t export this time shows under Previously excluded on your next export.
Tip: Under Grade updates, you see the number of returned grades since your last export. - Click SIS export.
If any grades fail to export, check the export status, or go to Troubleshoot SIS grade export.
After you export grades, you can view an export status report.
- Go to classroom.google.com.
- Click the class > the Grades page.
- Next to SIS export, click the Down arrow > Last export details.
Tip: You can also view the report from the notification that shows when an export finishes. On the notification, click View details.
If you unlink your class from the SIS, you can no longer export grades. If you relink the class later and export grades, duplicate grade entries will show in your SIS.
- Go to classroom.google.com.
- Click the class> Settings .
- Under General, click Unlink.
- To confirm, click Unlink.

Instructions from IC. Considerations for Using Grade Book Sync
- For synced assignments, the Digital Learning Partner is the “source of truth.” Modifying assignments or scores in your Campus Grade Book after syncing with the partner is not recommended as changes will be overwritten with the next sync. Instead, make changes in the partner program so that the correct data will sync with Campus.
- When syncing assignments and scores with Campus, the best practice is that all in-progress and posted grade calculations be performed in Campus instead of in the partner system. Campus is the district’s system of record for grades, which are used in multiple ways throughout Campus, including report cards, transcripts, and GPA calculations.
- In Campus, assignments must have a Points Possible value that is whole number. Currently, assignments received from a partner that have a Points Possible value with a decimal point are rounded down.
- Aligning assignments to Categories and Grading Tasks:
- If the partner is on a OneRoster version of 1.0 or 1.1, teachers must align assignments received from the partner. This can be done individually using the Uncategorized Assignments list or aligned automatically to a single category and task using the Non-Campus Assignment Defaults tool in Grade Book Settings. See the Uncategorized Assignments and Non-Campus Assignment Defaults article for more information.
- If the partner is on a OneRoster version of 1.2, teachers no longer need to align assignments, as long as the partner has implemented the category and grading task syncing capabilities available in 1.2. To sync categories and grading tasks, first set them up in Campus so they can sync to the partner program and use them for grading in the partner program. Assuming the partner has implemented category and task syncing, assignments will be received into campus with the category and grading task auto-aligned.
- The OneRoster specification currently does not support standards-based grading when using assignment and score sync. Assignments can only be aligned to one task or standard and scores can only be entered as numerical values, rather than the rubric-style scoring commonly used in a standards-based setup.
- Assignment Due Dates must fall within the Term Dates of the section in Campus. Even if a student is given an extension to turn in an assignment in the partner program, the due date must still be on or before the end date of the section in Campus.
- This integration specifically syncs the assignments and scores you create within Google Classroom into the Infinite Campus grade book. The bones of your Infinite Campus grade book must still be set up (ex. corresponding categories must be created in Infinite Campus).
- The very first time you sync an assignment from Google Classroom into your corresponding class in Infinite Campus, you must align the assignment to a Category and Grading Task within Infinite Campus. You can do this assignment-by-assignment with the Uncategorized Assignments tool (video example), or if you only use one category or grading task for your class, you can set all incoming assignments to auto-align to that category/grading task with the Non-Campus Assignment Defaults tool. Both methods are outlined in detail in Campus Community’s Uncatigorized Assignments and Non-Campus Assignment Defaults document.
