I am Madeleine LaChapelle, the 8th grade Design teacher. This is my 5th year teaching, my 4th teaching middle school in Natomas, and my 1st year teaching at Natomas Middle.

MYP design challenges students to apply practical and creative thinking skills to solve design problems; encourages students to explore the role of design in both historical and contemporary contexts; and raises students’ awareness of their responsibilities when making design decisions and taking action.

The Design courses are taught from grade 6-8. Through the design cycle, students will embark on the exploration of a subject area. In 8th grade, Design works in conjunction with their Social Studies course.
