During the December 16, 2020, Board meeting, the Natomas Unified School District (NUSD) Board of Trustees approved additional funding to extend The Center’s K-5 Day Camps from January 4 through February 26. As you may recall, the original funding was for The Center to run from August 27 through November 20. The Board then extended funding from November 30 through this Friday, December 18. Last night’s approval by the Board extends the funding even further allowing families, who are already enrolled in The Center to continue receiving support through February 26.

The Day Camps have been made possible because of a $1 million investment from the Board of Trustees that was later supplemented by a $500,000 contribution from the City of Sacramento. These camps are located at all NUSD elementary sites and K-8 sites for families with students in grades K-5 who need support with their students during Distance Learning.

While it is currently unclear when NUSD will begin the Transitional Learning Model, which includes an in-person instructional option, we want to ensure families understand that because of the uncertainty if Day Camps will continue past February 26, they should begin determining alternative childcare options.

Upon returning to Day Camps on January 4, please remember that if you or your student is experiencing any COVID-like symptoms,  we ask that your student stays home until you are sure they have not been exposed to COVID. If you are interested in having your child or family members tested, free testing is available Monday through Friday at any community testing sites in Sacramento County. Natomas Unified also offers free testing on Tuesdays, and you may request an appointment through the Natomas Unified testing clinic by sending your name, email address, date of birth, phone number, and zip code to [email protected].
