NUSD Food Truck outside the Sacramento Capital

The votes are in for the naming of NUSD’s new food truck. After a fun, friendly competition on the district’s Facebook page, the name “Lunch Box” was chosen as the top winner with the most likes. Lunch Box was made possible from a grant from No Kid Hungry to help the district expand its summer meal program. Outside of summer, it’s used to help promote healthy and nutritious breakfast, lunch, and supper meals. “It travels around to schools and helps us bring a wow factor to school meals while reducing the misconception that school meals can’t be healthy and tasty,” said Vince Caguin, Director of Nutrition Services. Don’t be surprised if you see NUSD’s Lunch Box at events around the city. It’s already made appearances at Picnic at the Capitol and the Farm to Fork Festival. It even found its way live on Good Day Sacramento where it was serving breakfast for students at Two Rivers Elementary School.
