Natomas Unified is proud to share our collection of new books which focus on notable African American figures, black joy, and Black history year-round. Watch as Ashley Collins, Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) at Natomas Park Elementary, explains the importance of these new books as the second most diverse school district in the nation.

“I think the most important part is these stories live on in our library bookshelves. It’s not just a one month a year (literary celebration), it’s the whole year, and for years to come, so a pretty cool way to act on our value of diversity, equity, and inclusion,” Collins said.
