Summer Learning Opportunities- June 1st – 26th

At this time, the current landscape indicates that NUSD will need to transition Summer School for 2020 to a Distance Learning Model. While we prioritize our focus for summer school, we have decided to put a special emphasis on supporting some targeted groups of students.

This summer, we will be offering the following distance learning programs:

  1. High School Summer School
  2. English Learner Program
  3. Kinder Readiness Camp
  4. Special Education Services

In addition, our instructional teams are working on developing enriching activities/lessons that families can utilize at their discretion, to support their students with continued learning throughout the summer. Communication on how to access these activities/lessons will be shared out at the conclusion of the 19-20 school year.

We recognize that there are students who struggled with the distance learning (DL) model this spring and will require specific support as a result of our districtwide time spent in distance learning. Therefore, staff will be focusing on how to provide remediation through other means as soon as it is possible, likely at the start of the 2020-21 school year. More information will become available as we learn more over the next few months about the COVID-19 pandemic related guidelines for schools.

Next week, detailed information regarding our summer learning programs will be shared with our families regarding how their students can be involved in the summer programs being offered.

Thank you again for all you are doing to support and connect with your students and one another. Together, we will get through this and be even stronger because of it.
