Remember the TV show, “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?”

Natomas Unified 5th graders had plenty on their minds, questions galore, in visits to middle schools today as part of the fact-gathering process for choosing a campus to attend next year that best meets their interests and needs.

Fifth-graders from H. Allen Hight, Witter Ranch and Natomas Park elementary schools hopped on buses to tour Natomas Gateways, Leroy Greene Academy, and Natomas Middle schools and to learn about programs, classes and electives at each.

Questions the 5th graders asked shed light on what they’re thinking:

  • How long is each period?
  • Do you have Late Start Wednesdays?
  • Is there a Spirit Team?
  • Does your soccer team travel?
  • When does school end?
  • How long are your passing periods?
  • Do you have a baseball team?

A similar field trip was taken recently by students from South Natomas elementary schools. Fifth-graders can choose a campus to attend until March 20, after which they will be assigned one based on location of residence.
