Leroy Greene Academy Baseball Team Ends Season with History Made as Section Champions with 17 Game Wins

What a way to knock out this baseball season as the Leroy Greene Academy Lions’ baseball team clinched the first League Championship for the Sacramento-Metro Athletic League, ended up in the playoffs, and won the Division 6 Section Championship (SJS-Section Championship). The team entered the Nor Cal Championships, playing against teams from the Bay Area to the Oregon border, on Tuesday, May 30th. The LGA student athletes’ journey ended that night, but their dedication and hard work shines through. Before their run ended, the Lions’ had the longest win streak in the region at 17 games. Head Coach Jesse Russell says, “The community, our administration has been so supportive. It was truly special. It was very, very encouraging for our boys’ hard work to be on display, and it was a humbling experience. Disappointing that we lost, but gratifying to see the community come out in support.”

Inderkum Girls Softball: A Tireless, Dedicated Team

It was a long, well-earned road for the Inderkum Girls Softball team as they were one win away from clinching the Section Title. This talented team would move on to face off against the Notre Dame Spirits in Salinas last Tuesday for the CIF Nor Cal Playoffs. The student-athletes lost, but their head coach says they are resilient. “We made a couple errors early in the game, but the kids never gave up. From the first pitch to the last pitch they don’t quit,” Art Guerra, the team’s head coach said.

Congratulations Lady Tigers for an amazing season!
