Dear Natomas Staff and Families,

As we enter the winter holiday season, a time of reflection, gratitude, and harmony, I want to extend my heartfelt wishes to each and every one of you. May this season bring you warmth, joy, and moments of peace, surrounded by family and friends.  Let us reach out to others, offer support to those in need, and foster a sense of belonging.  As we embark on a well-deserved break, I encourage you to cherish the time spent with loved ones, recharge your spirits, and reflect on the accomplishments of the past year.  Below are a few of the many items that we have to be proud about in Natomas Unified.

  • In the fall, we opened Heredia-Arriaga School, the District’s first dual immersion school

  • We launched Parent Square to increase our efficiency and effectiveness of our communications

  • Two Rivers Elementary School was named an AVID Showcase School

  • We continue to support our students’ social-emotional well-being with a social worker and psychologist available at each of our school sites

  • We continue to offer the SAT and the first UC and CSU application fee at no cost to students

  • We held a CTE Showcase for our 8th graders to introduce them to the 10 pathways available to them in high school

  • We continue our focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

  • Continued use of  our mobile health clinic van to help provide immunizations and vaccinations to our students

  • We added additional safety fencing at all school sites as student and staff safety is a top priority

  • We launched our afterschool LEAP academy

  • Planning for the Community Schools Program at Jefferson

  • Inderkum’s Girls Golf team won the first golf section championship in school history

  • Joey’s Food Locker continues to serve the needs of our community

  • And many more…

As we move into 2024, we look forward to continuing our work updating our Forward 5 Strategic Plan, our Facilities Master Plan (FMP), and our Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) to best meet the needs of our students and our community.  I hope to see many of you at our upcoming Engagement Meetings where we will provide updates on our progress and opportunities for input. We will also continue the expansion of Transitional Kindergarten for early learners.

Moving into the new year, let us continue to work together, learn from each other, and build an even stronger foundation for the success of our students. Your partnership and commitment are invaluable, and I am grateful to be part of such an exceptional community. Your commitment to education and the well-being of our students is the driving force behind the success of our district

Wishing you and your families a restful and joyful winter holiday season.

Warm regards,

Robyn Castillo, Ed.D.
