Natomas Unified Community,

We have some exciting news to share with you! We are in the beginning stages of discussions to potentially build a new K-5 elementary school on the east end of Club Center Drive to relieve future enrollment pressures in that area and add an awesome new academic program. We currently refer to this as the Northpointe Property (see the overhead image below of our 19.9 acres).  Student enrollment at nearby schools Natomas Park Elementary and H. Allen Hight Elementary continue to grow each year, and enrollment continues to maintain at about 1,000 at Heron K-8 School.

Opening a new elementary school in this area could create tremendous potential and opportunities for our community. Our intent would be to open this school as a Dual Immersion magnet-like program, where students would learn to be biliterate. The school would be open to any Natomas Unified School District student with transportation across the district, ensuring access for interested families. There are many other areas that need to be considered including funding, but we wanted to share that an announcement was made at last night’s Board Meeting.

These are exciting times for our community, and we’re glad to share these beginning steps with you. As always, we will continue to keep you informed on our progress and as new information becomes available.
