Josue, a Natomas Unified School District student, organizes comics, sweeps, and packs at Natomas business “The Comic Command Center”. These tasks build his job skills and resume. His employment is made possible thanks to the WorkAbility program. “Learning about this stuff helps me develop skills like being organized. I’ve learned how to be a responsible person,” Josue explained.

WorkAbility is a grant funded program through the California Department of Education which helps special education students. The students’ salary and insurance are paid through the program. “Workability helps because it provides the merchants with someone to help them out at their establishment… it helps the students because they earn a paycheck while learning something new,” Sureatha Reed, Job Developer for NUSD’s Workability Program said.
